Specification of Letters Patent.
Application led October 17, 1913. Serial No. 795,693.
Patented Apr. 14, 1914.
To all who-m, it may concern? Be it known that I, CLAUDE B. KISBLER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, county and State 'of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in a Foldable lEgg-Boiler, of which the following is a full, clear,A and exact specification.
-This invention relates to a class of devices adapted to be` used for culinary purposes.
My invention has for its object primarily to rovide a form of boiler designed to be use -for permitting eggs to be boiledV without the shells thereof being cracked or damaged as well -as serving to permit the eggs to be conveniently removed from the water for consumption without risk of injury to the person' preparing the eggs, and wherein are employed a number of yielding pockets made of spring wire which are convoluted in parabolic shapes for safely carrying the lES - vices to be packed into a limited space for transportation.
A further object of the invention is to provide a foldable egg boiler of simple and eilicient construction, and which is susceptible of being made in various sizes and shapes.
A practlcal embodiment of-the invention is represented in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding arts in all the views, the said invention eing more fully described hereinafter and then pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form of foldable egg boiler ernbodying my invention. plan view showing in solid lines the manner of folding the boiler and indicat in dotted lines the Vposition -of the egg hol ers when not folded. Fig. 3 is a fragmentary view showing a side elevation of one of the pockets of the boiler and the manner of pivoting the pockets to the handle or vsupport of the device. v
The device, or foldable egg boiler has a Fig. 2, is a top handle, or support'lO which is in the form of a vertically disposed rod or post 11 havlng a rlng 12 upon its upper end to permit the boiler to be conveniently carried by a person. Arranged in the formation of a circle around the lower end portion of the post 11 of the handle 10, and spaced suitable lstances therefrom, are a number of yield# mg pockets, as 13, 14, 15, `16, 17, 18, and while I show six of the pockets in the drawing it will be understood that forms of the device may be made wherein a greater or less number of the pockets may be employed. The yielding pockets 13, 14', 15, 16, 17, 18 are allke in formation, and each of said pockets is preferably made of spring wire formed into a parabolic shape to'conform wlth the shape of an egg for permitting the egg to be retained therein as shown in dotted lines at 19, without danger of its shell being cracked or damaged.
Extending laterally from the upper part of each of the pockets 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 1s an integral arm 20, and the free end por- `tion of each of these `arms is bent down- 23 in which the stems are disposed, and this recess is of a width so that the stems will rotate therein. In order to 'hold the sleeve 22 against displacement upon the handle 10'- be used in conjunction with a comparatively small container for boiling a few eggs as well as permitting a large' number of the devices to be packed into a limited space for transportation.
In the foregoing description, I haveemvbodied the preferred form of my invention,
but I do not wish to be understood as limit ing myself thereto, as I am aware that modipockets to slide together to a foldedications may be made therein without departing from the principle, or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention, thereoreI reserve to myself the right to `make such changes as fairly fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent l l; A` foldable egg boiler of the character described, comprising a handle, a plurality of pockets formed of springmaterial convoluted in parabolic shapes, said pockets `being disposed laterally with relation to the handle, and means provided upon the handle for pivotally connecting the pockets thereto, whereby the pockets may be swung circumferentially of the handle so as to slide together to a folded position.
2. A oldable egg` boiler of the character described, comprismg a handle having an annular recess, a plurality of ypockets 'formed of sprmg material convoluted in parabolic shapes, said pockets being disposed laterally with relation to the handle, and a plurality of stems movably inserted inthe annular recess of the handle, whereby the ockets may be swung circumferentially of t e handle so as to slide together to a folded position.
3. A foldable egg boiler of the characterl described, comprisin a handle having a post, a sleeve provi ed upon the post, a
.plurality of spirally constructed parabolic shaped pockets disposed laterally with relation to the handle, and means provided upon each of the pockets, and engaging the sleeve, whereby the pockets maybe swung circumferentiallyvof the 'handle so as to slide together to a folded position.
4. A foldable egg boiler of the character described, comprising a handle having a post, a sleeve provided upon the post, said sleeve being of greater diameter than the post to provide an annular recess around the post, a plurality of spirally constructed parabolic shaped yielding pockets disposed laterally with relation to the handle, a plurality of arms, one' extending from each of ANDREW K. ALLIsoN, Enwm R. JONES.
