Description

W. H. RINEBOLD. ADJUSTABLE STANDARD FOR CREAM SEPARATORS. APPLIOATION FILED-APR. 5, 1913.
1,086,6 19. Patented Feb. 10, 1914.
" WH.RINEBOLD Wflueiww VTILBERT H. RINEBOLD, OF FOSTORIA, OHIO.
ADJUSTABLE STANDARD FQR CREAM-SEPARATDRS.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WVnannrr H. Rnvnnonn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fostoria, in the county of Seneca and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Standards for Cream-Separators, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in standards and more particularly to a standard for supporting cream separators, the object of the invention being to provide a standard of the above character which can be readily adjusted whereby the separator will set in a perfectly level position.
Another object of the invention is to provide a standard of the above character which will possess advantages in points of efiiciency and durability, is inexpensive of manufacture and at the same time is simple in construction and operation.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction and the combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, pointed out in the claims and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation illustrating the application of my invention; and Fig. 2 is a top plan view.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 indicates the bowl of any well known form of cream separator, said bowl being suitably supported by means of the base 2. ltigidly secured to the floor or any other suitable supporting surface is the supporting standard 3, which is provided with the supporting legs l having the shoulders 5 formed upon the upper face thereof. Formed integral with the lower ends of the supporting legs a and projecting outwardly therefrom are the flanges 6 which are adapted to be rigidly secured to the floor or other surface by means of the bolts 7.
The body of the standard 3 is substantially semi-spherical in shape and is adapted to fit into a similar shaped cavity or socket 8 formed in the lower end of the base 2 whereby the separator will be movably mounted upon the standard whereby the same may be readily adjusted to a level po sition. The lower end of the base member 2 terminates into the adjusting legs 9, the

lower ends of said legs being outwardly turned as shown at 10 and provided with a threaded opening adapted for the reception of the adjusted bolts 11. The bolts 11 are threaded through the openings in the outwardly turned ends 10, said bolts having their lower ends engaged within threaded openings formed in the shoulders 5 of the supporting legs 4. Thus it will be apparent that by the adjustment of the bolts 11, the body of the separator may be quickly and readily adjusted to a level position.
It is a well known fact among dairymen, farm ers and others, who use cream separators that these separators will not operate in a satisfactory manner when the machine is setting in an unlevel position. Therefore, I have provided a simple and durable standard for separators whereby the body of the separator may be disposed in a perfectly level position at all times. Should the standard 8 be disposed in an unlevel position, the base member 2 may be readily adjusted by the bolts 11 so that the body of the separator may be arranged in a level position, regardless of the position of the standard. It will be readily apparent that I have provided a simple and durable separator standard whereby the body of the separator may be maintained in a level position so that the separator will operate in a perfectly satis factory manner. It will also be apparent that the device is extremely simple in construction, efiicient and durable and can be manufactured at a comparatively low cost.
lVhile I have shown and described the preferred form of my invention, it will be obvious that various changes in the details of construction and in the proportions may be resorted to for successfully carrying my invention into practice without sacrificing any of the novel features or departing from the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is 1. The combination with a base having a substantially semi-spherical cavity in the lower end and spaced adjustable legs projecting downwardly from said base, of a standard substantially semi-spherical and adapted to be disposed within the cavity of the base, spaced supporting legs formed in tegral with the standard, flanges projecting outwardly from the lower ends of said legs and rigidly secured in position, and means for adjustably securingthe legs of the base to the supporting legs of the standard.
2. The combination with a base having a substantially semispherical cavity formed in the lower end thereof adjusting legs formed integral with the base and having their lower ends outwardly turned of a supporting standard substantially semi spherical in shape and adapted to be disposed within said cavity, supporting legs formed integral with the standard shoulders formed upon said legs, and adjusting bolts mounted in the outwardly turned ends of the legs on the base and having their lower ends adjustably mounted within the shoulders formed on the supporting legs of the standards whereby the separator may be adjusted to a perfectly level position.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aifix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
