and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specitication.
The nature ot' my invention consists in the construction of a Washboard, as will be hereinafter set forth.
Figure 1 represents a wash-board with my invention, and Fig. 2 represents a cross-section of the zinc board.
In the accompanying drawing, Arepresents the usual frame of a wash-board, having a receptacle, B, at its top, for soap or for clothing.
C represents the central portion or surface upon which the clothes arerubbed. This portion is made of zinc or other suitable material, and is composed of aseries of irregularly-placed diamond-shapedraised pieces, a a. These diamond-shaped raises are arranged in rows crosswse of the board, from top to bottom, each alternate row being composed of more elevations than those of the intermediate rows, as shown at :v y in Fig. l, the rows marked w in the drawing having ve diamonds placed a short distance apart, and those marked y havwith little exertion, and eiectually cleansing the clothing Within a short space of time.
The boards thus formed can be stamped out by die-plates in a short time, and introduced at very slight expense.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In combination with the frame A, the metal surface C, composed of a series of diamondshaped elevations, a, made in cross-rows x and y, as described, and forming the oblique channels d d, all as shown and described.
