To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES W. Hoocson, a citizen of the United States, residing at Park City, in the county of Summit and State of Utah, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belt-Buckle Attachments, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in belt buckle attachments, and the leading object is the provision of an attachment which will not interfere with the natural and usual purpose of the buckle but which will operate in connection with the button or catch upon trousers to retain the belt in proper position with reference to said trousers.

Another object of my invention is the provision of a device which can be easily applied and which cannot possibly work loose or become detached and which will hold the belt and buckle in proper position and insure an attractive and ornamental appearance of the belt upon the trousers.

Another object of my invention is t-he provision of a belt buckle attachment which can be applied with ease to buckles in use or at the time of manufacture by any person and which while not adding any material cost to the buckle will greatly increase the eiiiciency, desirability and usefulness of the belt.

Vith these objects in View my invention consists broadly in the combination with the belt buckle of an attachment adapted to engage and retain itself in position upon the buckle and having means to engage either the button or clasp of the trousers.

The invention further consists of a belt buckle attachment made from a single piece of spring or elastic material having portions to engage the belt and the trouser button or the trouser clasp, all embodying novel features of construction and combination of parts substantially as shown, described, and particularly defined by the claims.

Figure l represents a front or face view of the buckle and part of the belt with my attachment in position with reference to the buckle and belt. Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view of a. portion of the belt, buckle and trousers showing my attachment applied and employed in connection with trousers using the usual clasp and keeper fastening. Fig. 3 is a similar view the device being used in connection with the usual button employed in fastening the trousers, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of my attachment removed and shown on an enlarged scale for purpose of clearer illustration of the device.

My device is of extremely simple construction consisting of a single piece of material and is used in connection with the loop buckle A, having the usual fastening pin or tongue B, and the belt C, having one end D, looped around the buckle and the other end which passes through the loop formed with openings E, to receive the tongue of the buckle.

My device is formed with the pair of lateral arms F, which fit between the looped end of the belt and buckle and secure the device in place.

The device is formed with the pair of inclined arms G, one of which is formed with an inwardly extending eye or loop II, which engages the butt-on J, when used upon a pair of trousers employing such a fastening and is further formed with the inturned or off-set cross-bar IAI which forms an engaging loop which fits within the clasp K, and keeper L, such as used upon trousers employing this character of fastening.

The operation of my device will be readily understood from the description and drawing and it will be noted that the device can be used with either a button fastening or with a clasp and keeper fastening adapting the device for trousers using either character of fastening means, thus making the device highly desirable. It will also be apparent that the device can be easily applied and will under all conditions ren'iain in proper position; will retain the belt in the exact relation to the trousers; will not add anything practically to the cost of the buckle, and generally from every point of view will prove useful, practical, and etlicient.

I claim:

l. A. belt attachment, consisting of a single piece of material having a pair ot oppositely extending lateral arms adapted to engage between the belt and buckle frame, a pair of inclined arms divergingfrom said lateral arms, a cross-bar connecting said inclined arms at their outer ends, and a button-engaging loop formed on one of said inclined arms and projecting into the space defined by said inclined arms and crossbar.
