DEVICE FOR SPRAYING LIQUID INTO AIR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec.9,1913
Application filed May 29, 1918. Serial No. 770,560.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUSTAV ADOLF SoHtiLLEn, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Venusberg/Erzge bir e, Germany, have invented certain new an useful Improvements in Devices for Spraying Liquid into Air, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved device for spraying liquid into air, in which the liquid is sucked-on and sprayed-off by a compressed-air current The known devices of this kind possess nozzles, to which the liquid is supplied through thin pipes, which project into the liquid container; These pipes, which must be rather thin for obtaining an easy suction-effect, get easily stopped or the liquid carries through them dirt, which causes astopping of the nozzles.
According to the present invention, the drawbacks mentioned are avoided by omitting the thin liquid ascending or suction pipes.
The accompanying drawing shows the improved device. A
Figure l is a sectional elevation, and Fig. 2 a plan view, of the same.
The spraying nozzles 1 are carried by a casing 2, which, by a bell-shaped partition 3, is divided into two 'compartments 4 and 5. The upper space 4 serves for the reception -of the compressed-air, it being in commun1-- cation with the nozzles 1 through channels 6. The lower space 5 receives the liquid, it being in communication with the nozzles 1 through upwardly inclined channels 7. The
level of the liquid is always kept at the same height, no air space being left above, so that the space is continuously entirely filled with liquid, .while the channels 7 are in direct communication with the-uppermost end of the container. During the working of the device, the liquid is thus sucked 03 directly from its level through the nozzle channels 7. A stopping of the nozzles by dirt is thus almost impossible, providedthat the water be clean in some degree.
The improved device has further the advantage that it is much simpler than those hitherto known.
I claim:
In a device for spraying liquid into air,
the combination of a casing, a bell-shaped.
partition to divide the latter into anupper compressed-air compartment and a lower liquid container, and a plurality of spraying nozzles on said casing comprising-each a channel in direct communication with said compressed-air space and a channel in directcommunication with the uppermost end of said liquid container, the latter channels being upwardly inclined toward the orifices of the nozzles, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
Witnesses EMIL STEGER, WALTER Koiinnn.
