Be it known that I, BRUCE M- UM OIJ ZQ a citizen of the United'St-ates, residing fatlvaniego, inthe county of Pottawatomie and State of Kansas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Containing and Dispensing Devices, of-which' the following is a specification.

substances and compositions customarily employed indcntal worlg'the object of the i'nvention being to providca devi'ce of this character whereby a compound orsubsta ice may be loosened up and dispensed in any quantity desired, whereby two or more cornpounds may be contained .anddispensed within and from the same vessel, and whereby the contained materials may be inclosed and protected from the atmosphere and the access of foreign materials.

Referring to the drawings, 1 --designates' the dispensingvcssel,which preferably is of rectangular form and provided with a tapering or frusto-conical lower end-2. The tapered lower end- 0f the vessel is provided with a discharge slot or outlet- 6 and contains an agitator 7 consisting ofa horizontal shaft 8 extending transversely through and 'journa'led in'the provided'with a fixed wall 13 in whichone end of said shaft-"11 is journale'd, while-tho other end of the cylinder is threaded to rec eive' a; screw cap 14 in which tlie'opposite .end of the shaft-11 is journaled, the construction being such that upon the removal of the cap the feed device as a whole maybe withdrawn from the tube or casing to enable the same to be cleaned or repairs to'be readily made. :On the adjacent ends of the shafts 8 and llare gears 15 and 16, and on one end of the shaft- 11 is a crank handle 17 wherebythe feed device may be rotatedand the agitator simultaneously rotated as a *result of which the material in the vessel will be properly loosened up, fed through the slot 6. into the cylinder, andth'cn discharged in properquantity for use through an outlet 18 at one end of the cylinder by the feed screw.
Arranged within the upper portion of the vessel 1 is an internal vessel or compartment 19, whose mouth or upper end is flush with the mouth of the vessel 1 and whose rear wall preferably inclines downwardly and forwardly to provide a contracted lower end havin a discharge slot 20. Communicat- ,ing with this discharge slot is a feeder similar in construction to thatbefore described,
s'aid feeder comprising a cylinder 21 having 1 a'fixed end 22 in which is journa'led one end ofa shaft 23, the opposite end of which is journaled in one of theside walls of the vessel 1 and provided at its outer end with 'an dperating crank 24. The shaft 23 carries feed screw 25 and the cylinder is provided at it-sdischarge end with an-outlet tube 26. -which projects to the exterior through the front wall of thevessel 1. Thisinternal compartment may contain investment compounds or other substances commonly kept in small quantities and dispensedat inter Yals for use, and if desired thevessel and internal compartment may contain substances of different character commonly kept and combined in different quantities and which maybe individually dispensed at the time of use. For instance, plaster of Paris may be kept in the compartment 1, and marble dust or other material in'the compartment 19, and dispensed for admixture in the production of an investment compound when occasion requires. That portion of the cover 3 from which the flange 4: is cut away is designed to close the top of the compartment 19, while the flange fits within and closes the top of the vessel 1,-thus sealing both the internal compartment and body of 'the vessel against the access of moisture, dirt and other foreign materials.
In practice, the device may be provided with suitable means for suspending it from a wall or other support so that it'may be conveniently filled'and its contents readily and conveniently :dispensed.
I claim v A containing and dispensing device comprising a vertically disposed receptacle of rectangular form and provided wit-h a bottom having downwardly converging side walls, and rear walls downwardly converging at their upper ends and curved at their lower ends to provide a partially cylindrical chamber provided at the point of convergence of said walls with an outlet, a shaft ournaled in the converging side walls of the chamber'and carrying a gear at one end thereof, a bladed agitatormounted upon said shaft to rotate within said chamber, a casing on the exterior of and extending transversely of said receptacle and com municating centrally with said outlet, said casing being coextensive in length with the width of the receptacle and having a fixed wall and a depending outlet at one end and being open at its opposite end, a detachable closure for the openend of said'casing, a
shaft of greater length than the discharge outlet and extending longitudinally within the casing and journaled .at its opposite ends in the said fixed end wall and removable closure of said casing, a feed screw carried by said shaft, a gear upon one end of said shaftmeshing with the-gear upon the agitator shaft, and an operating device connected with thefeed screw shaft, said shaft, screw and associated gear being re movable from the casing with the closure when the latter is detached. 7
