This invention is primarily directed to the mounting of the rollers and the construction and operation of the guards.
An object of my invention is to provide a mop-wringcr with a pair of pivotally mounted guards, adapted to support and journal a pair of horizontally disposed parallel rollers at one end with the opposite end of each engaged with the axlev of amovable roller journaled upon an operating lever. The 'axle of the movable roller projects through longitudinal slot in each of the guards to accommodate for its are of movement toward the stationary rollers and thereby enable the guards to be mounted between the respective ends of the movable roller and limbs of the operating lever to offer rigidity to the guards during a mopwringing operation. The pivotal mounting of the guards enables the axle of the movable roller to be journaled in permanently located bearings in the operating lever.
Further objects of my invention relate to oscillating guards disposed adjacently to the wringer rollers with the free ends engaged with the axle of the movable roller of the series, the axles projected through a longitudinal slot in each of the guards. Such guards enable the movable roller to be engaged therewith and be mounted in permanent bearings in the operating lever therefor and offer no resistance to the operation ol" the parts. I l

l represents the bucket, having the bracket 2 secured at the upper portionof its inner periphery. The bracket is preferably formed of a strip of metal bent to substantially U-form, with the major portion thereof conforming to the curvatureof the bucket, and with the limbed extremities 3, providing bearings for the pivot rod 4. The rod 4, in .one instance, forms the axis for the guards 5 when the wringer is of the three roller type, and the axle of the roller 4a in a two-roller type. Two guards 5 are provided, one mounted adjacent each limb 3 of the'bracket and preferably adjacent the in-l terior surface thereof, with the roller orrollers intermediate of the guards. In the three roller type of wringer, each guard comprises a metal plate having the oppositely disposed right angled ear extensions 6 and 7 serving as bearings for journaling the stationary rollers 8 and 9 arranged in superposed parallel planes; The ear extensions 6 and are omitted in the two roller type as shown in Fig. 3, the roller 4 being mounted on the rod 4 which forms the axis for the guards. The guards are also each provided with a longitudinal slot 10 in a plane with the pivot rod 4, through which. the axle 1l of the movable roller l2 projects, providing clearance for the roller movement toward and from its companion rollers 8 and 9.
The'movable roller 12 is mounted between the pair of limbs of an operating lever of l'peculiar construction, which lever is pivotally mounted upon the exterior of the bucket and operated by the foot of the operator. The lever comprises a bowed or semi-circular portion 13 extending around one-half of the exterior' of the bucket and the oppositely disposed vertical limbs 14, 15, secured respectively to the ends of the bowed projecting boss faces of the bracket ears.
