tilwed'eiuhave invented certain new and usetul improvements in Central Feed-Pipes ior Centrifugal Bowls, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in such central feed pipes for centrifugal bowls, which are cast in one piece with the under part. or bottom ot the bowl said latter part being provided with a central bore for the upper end of the driving shaft and with channels departing from the upper part of the central feed pipe and ending in the separating chamber beneath the liner.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing showing in Vertical section the feed device and the under part or bottom ofthe bowl combined therewith.
a; is the bottom part of the bowl and b is the central feed pipe cast in one piece with the bottom part. The said bottom part is provided with a central bore for the driving shaft (this latter not shown on the draw ing). In the walls of the bottom part and the central feed pipe there are cut vertical grooves c, which at their lower end are curved outwardly, so that they open at the upper and outer border of the bottom part. The grooves 0 communicate at their upper ends with the interior of the central feed pipe through openings (Z in the wall of the said pipe. Furthermore there is a cylindrical sleeve 0 turned over and fitting closely to the central pipe, said sleeve being curved outwardly after about the same radius as the grooves in the bottom part of the bowl. The length of the sleeve is thus adjusted that when placed on the pipe the outer parts of the grooves c are left free. By this arrangement there is thus formed closed passages through which the liquid to be separated is conducted from the interior of the central feed pipe, passing at the side of the upper end of the spindle, to the lower part of the separating chambe'n. It will be observed that by this arrangement, notwithstanding the upper end of the spindle being drawn up to a certain height in the bowl, the distributing organ does not itself take up any room in radial direction, bill is limited to the dimension necessary with respect to the fixed part surrounding the drivshaf The sleeve 6 is provided with wings f entering corresponding cuts in the conicalv plates of the liner thus forming guides for the said plates.
Having now described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in What manner the same is to be performed I declare that what I claim is v 1. In a centrii'iwal separator bowl having its bottom part cast in one piece with a central feed pipe, adapted to inclose the upper end of the driving shaft and in the upper part of which the liquid to be separated is introduced, a number of downwardly extending grooves formed in the Walls of the feed pipe and the bottom part of the bowl and communicating with the interior of the central feed pipe, said grooves bein curved outwardly, and a sleeve fitting close y to the. central feed pipe and closing said grooves outwardly leaving their outer ends free.
2. In a centrifugal separator bowl having its bottom part cast in one piece with a central feed pipe adapted to inclose the upper end of the driving shaft and in the upper part of which the liquid to be separated is introduced, a number of downwardly extending grooves formed in the walls of the feed pipe and the bottom part of the bowl and communicating with the interior of the central feed pipe, said grooves being curved outwardly, and a sleeve fitting closely to the central feed pipe and closing said grooves outwardly leaving their outer ends free, and a number of vertical wings on the wall of the said sleeve forming guides for the conical plates of the liner.
In a centrifugal, separator, a bowl having a bottom part and a central feed pipe constituting .a continuation thereof and adapted to inclosethe upper end of the driv-.
ing shaft and in the upper part of which the liquid to'he separated is introduced, there being a number of downwardly extending milloconveying grooves formed in the walls of the teed pipeand the bottom part of the bowl and communicating with the interior of the central feed pipe, the lower or exit 1 ends of which extend outwardly and open into the lower part of the bowl, and a sleeve fittingthe central teed pipe and closing said grooves outwardly except at their lower or exit ends. j
4-. To a centrifugal separator. a bowl havingabottom part and a central t'e'ed pipe c0nstituting a continuation thereof and adapted to inclose the upper end of the driving shaft and in the upper part of which the liquid to be separated is introduced, there being a number of downwardly extending milk-conveying grooves formed in the walls of the feed pipe and the bottom part of the bowl and communieatingvwith the interior of the central feed pipe and closing said grooves outwardly except at their lower or exit ends, and a number of vertically extending wings on the walls of said sleeve forming guides for the conical plates of the liner.
In testimony whereof I have afiixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
