*onrrnn s'rarns Parana carton FRANK P-OMPONIO, 0F STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA, ASSIGNOR T0 SANITARY GARMENT BAG COMPANY, OF STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA, A CORPORATION. I
SUIT-BAG HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK PoMPoNIo, a citizen of the United States, residing at Stockton, in the county of San Joaquin, State of California, have invented certain new and. useful Improvements in Suit-Bag Holders; and I do declare the following to be a clear, full, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the. characters of reference marked thereon, which ptorm a part of this application.
This invention relates to improvements in paraphernalia used by tailors and gentlemens and ladies furnishers and particularly to a suit bag holder, whereby a suit may be readily hung upon the hanger and thereafter covered by the suit bag, this operation to be repeated a number of times without the necessity of replenishing the suit bag supp 1 ly. 1 A further object of the invention is to produce a quick and convenient means for covering the suit with the bag and one in which .the bag is always ready for immediate and convenient use.
A further object of the invention is to produce a simple and inexpensive device and yet one which will be exceedingly efiective for the purposes for which it is designed.
These objects, I accomplish. by means of such structure and relative arrangement of the parts as will fully appear by a perusal of the following specification and claim. On the drawings similar characters of reference indicate .corresponding parts in the several views.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the complete. device. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same; Fig. 3 is a front elevation of my improved holder. Fig. .4 is another view of the same. Fig. 5 is a view of a coat hanger.
Referring now more particularly to the characters of reference on the drawings, I first provide a bracket Iadapted to be secured at any desired point such as a wall 2,
with an eye 3 adapted to receive a rod 4: provided with a hook 5 at its lower end and with a cross supporting member 6 at an intermediate point. This cross member 6 has a sharp edge on its upper end for a purpose as Wlll appear.
The numeral 7 designates a hook provided with a coat hanger 8, which coat hanger 8 is provided with a longitudinal slot 9'formmg a bottom cross member 10. p
In practice a plurality of suit bags 11 are hung upon the cross member 6. The coat or suit or skirt is then mounted upon the hanger 8 and if trousers are with the suit Patented June to, 191s.
they are projected through the slot 9 and hung in the usual manner upon the member 10. The hook 7 is then engaged with the hook 5 which brings the suit or other garment immediately below the bags '11. The inmost bag 11 is then pulled downwardly the sharp edge of the member 6 permitting the bag to be cut loose therefrom and said bag is then pulled down over the hook 5 and hook 6 and over the suit or garment to completely inclose the same. All the inner edges of the bags llwill be provided with gum or glue which will be slightly wetted with any desired means and thelower edge of the bag then sealed. It will then readily be seen that this structure will keep the dust or dirt from the gar- .ment and keepthe same neat and clean for transportation purposes or for ordinary hanging purposes when not in use. v
As will be readily seen the above operation may be repeated as many times as there are bags 11 mounted on themember Sand hence the device can be used with great efficiency and despatch in tailor shops and ladies and gentlemens furnishing stores as well as in homes or in fact any place where it is desired to hang and cover a suit of clothes-particularly dress clothes which are not used continually and which it is desired to keep free from dust and dirt and moths when not in use.
From the foregoing description it will be readily seen that I have produced such a device as substantially fulfils the objects of the invention as set forth herein. While this specification sets forth in detail the present and preferred construction of the-device, still in practice 'such deviations from such detail may be resorted to as do not form a departure from the spirit of the invention; V I
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and useful and desire to sefn'oject against the bottom inner edge of:
cure by Letters Patent is: said bags, as described. 10 A device of the character described c0m- In testimony whereof I affig my signature prising a rod, a member disposed transin presence of two Witnesses. 5 versely on said rod and projecting on each FRANK POMPUNIO.
side thereof, the upper edge of said member ,Witnesses: being sharpened, said sharpened member be JOSHUA R. WEBsTnR,
ing adapted to hold suit bags and normally CLARENCE M. SMITH.
