Description

H. RAMME. DISPENSING DEVICE lEOIi BEBE AND OTHER LIQUIDS. APPLIOATION FILED AUG. 16, 1912.
Patented June 10, 1913.
' 3 Wm: wcoz UNKTED PATENT @Fh ittlltl HENRY RAMME, OF ELUSHING, NEW YORK.
DISPENSING DEVICE FOR BEER AND OTHER LIQUIDS.
T0 aZZ whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, HENRY RAMME, a citizen of the United States, residing at Flushing, county of Queens, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Dispensing Device for Beer and other Liquids, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a dispensing device, which indicates accurately when a predetermined weight of beer or other liquid has been drawn from the barrel.
The device may be readily coupled to a spigot of the usual construction, so that extensive expenditures andalterations are not required for its application or general adoption.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 is a side view of a dispensing device embodying my invention, showing it applied to a spigot; Fig. 2 a plan, and Fig.3 a longi tudinal section thereof.
The dispensing device comprises essentially an oscillable frame which is adapted to straddle a conventional spigot 10, and which may be formed by a single piece of metal if desired. The frame is composed of a pair of side bars 11, 12 which flank the spigot and extend some distance in front of the same, where they are connected by a brace 13. At their rear ends, bars 11, 12 preferably diverge slightly and are connected to each other by an upwardly extending arched cross piece or yoke 1&. At a distance back of brace 13, there extends across the frame a pivot 15 tiat passes loosely through the side bars 11, 12 and is shown to be made in the form of a screw carrying a nut 16, so that the pivot may be readily inserted. Upon pivot 15, there are mounted the means by which the frame may be readily secured to spigot 10. These means comprise a pair of aws 17, extending to the right and left of spi 'ot nozzle 18 and adapted to be connected to each other directly back of said nozzle by a screw 19 carrying nut 20. The attaching means further comprise a bail 21 mounted on pivot 15 and adapted to be projected over nozzle 18 and into engagement with the nose 22 formed on the latter. It will be seen that after the device has been fitted to the spigot by means Specification of Letters Patent.

of the jaws 17 and bail 21, the frame straddling the spigot will be entirely free to oscillate on pivot 15. During this movement, the ascent of the rear portion of the frame will be checked by the engagement of yoke 1a with the spigot handle 23 (dotted lines Fig. 1), while its descent will be checked by the engagement of the yoke with the body of the spigotback of said handle (full lines Fig. 1.)
Means are provided near the front of the frame for suspending a kettle or other reeptacle A therefrom such means being shown to consist of a pair of notches 2d formed in bars 11, 12 directly back of cross piece 18. Each of the bars 11, 12 carries a sliding weight marred 25, 26 respectively for which purpose the bars are corrugated or notched in known manner as at 27, 28. In use, weight 25 is set to counterbalance receptacle s3 and then weight 26 is set to counterbalance the weight of the liquid to be tapped. As soon as the proper quantity of liquid has been discharged, the frame will be tilted downwardly at its front end and upward at its rear end until yoke let will become unseated and strike handle 22 as previously stated. In this way the operator will receive due notice to turn off the cock and unhook the kettle.
It will be seen that the dispensing device may be readily applied to conventional taps, so that any extensive expenditures or alter ations are not required for its adoption. In this way the very desirable accuracy in the dispensation of small packages of liquids is placed within everyones reach, which in ures to the benefit both of the retailer and of the public.
1 claim:
A dispensing device comprising a pair of side bars, weights slidable thereon, means for suspending a receptacle from ti e front of the side bars, a yoke connecting the rear ends of said side bars, a pivot on which the side bars are oscillable, and a pair of jaws and a bail mounted on the pivot.
