JAMES E. WHITACRE, OF ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS.
GARBURETER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
liatcntod Jun 0 3, 1913.
Application filed March 11, 1912. Serial No. 683,074.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, JAMES 1*]. \V'II'I'LALRE, a citizen of the United Stat", residing at ltoelclord, in the county 01 \Vinnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful :lmprovements in Carburetors, oi which the following is a specification.
The object at this invention is to construct a carbureter for carbureting apparatus, and comprises a, :l abric having one end connected to the movable dome and its other end connected to a pan in order that any gasoleue accumulating in the pan will be taken up by the fabric and vaporized by the incoming air.
In the accompanying drawings, 1* igure 1 :is a section on line b b Fig. .2. Fig. 2 is a section on line a a Fig. 1.
The carbureter comprises the outer receptacle 1 within which is secured an inner wall 2 forming a water space 3 between them. To the inner wall is secured a support 1- on which is located a porlzorated plate 5. To the inner Wall 2 near its upper end is secured a pan (3 by the lugs 7. This pan has a central opening 8 termed by the rim 9.
To the top 10 of the dome is secured one end of a fabric tube 11 by the ring plate 12. The lower end of the fabric tube is connected to the rim 9 by the collar 1?).
An air inlet pipe 14: extends through the opening 8 in the pan 6 and carries a dellectorhood 19, located above the top of the opening 8, and a gasolene supply pipe 1:.) is located alongside oi the a1r inlet pipe. The opening 01 the oil inlet pipe is a little above the deflector hood 19, and has a cap 20 covering said opening and held yieldingly in position by the coiled spring 21.
A carbureted air supply pipe 16 has one end con'nnunicating with the space 17 be tween the bottom of the outer casing and the perforated plate 5 and extends to the point oi use. Air is forced through the air inlet tube by any suitable means, and gasolene is forced through the supply pipe 15.
Suitable filtering material 18 is located on the shelf.
in use ii? any excess oil. gasolene be injected into the space within the tube, it Will Fall into the pan, and as the dome lowers the tube will iold within the pan and gather up the gasolene which is mixed with the incoming air and thoroughly vaporized. The cm-bureied air then passes through the iill'ering material into the space 17 and passes by the pipe 16 to the point oi? use.
1' claim as my invention.
1. :iv imrlnu'eler comprising an outer casing, an inner wall, a dome movable between the casing and wall, a pan supported within the inner wall, an air supply-pipe and gasolene supply iipe extending through said pan, a fabric partition having one end semu'ed'to the dome and the other end located in the pan and forming an inclosure for said supply-pipes, and a carbureted air delivery pipe connnunicating with the chamber formed by the inner wall.
2. A carburetor comprising an outer and inner casing, :lormiug a circumferential chamber, adapted to contain a liquid, a dome movable in said clu'unber, a pan supported within the inner casing, air and gasolene sumaly-pii'ies extending through said pan, a fabric partition having one end secured to the dome and the other end located in the pan, forming an :inclosurc for the supplypipes and adapted to conform to the elevating and lowering oi? said movah'le dome, and a carbureled air delivery pipe com-- numicaiiug wiih lhe inner casing.
2). A. carburetorcomprising a casing forming a liltering receptacle, a liquid contain ing chamber surrolu'iding said reeeplacle, a dome movable in said chamber, an inclosure Formed oi? 'lahric sides having a support iixed to said receptacle and having its upper end attached to said dome, the inclosure adapted to coniliorni lo the movement of said dome, air and gasolene iui'alm-pipes adapted to discharge within said inclosure, and a. carlmreted-air discharge pipe communicating with said filtering receptacle.
41-. A, carburetor comprising a filtering receptacle, a gas accumulating chamber heneath. said receptacle, a liquid containing chamber surrounding said receptacle, a bureted-air discharge pipe communicating dome movable 1n said chamber, a pan supwlth the carbureted air accumulating chamported by said filtering receptacle, a tube ber.
formed of fabric having one end secured to JAMES E. WHITACRE. 5 the dome and its other end located in said lVitii'esses:
pan, aiiand gasolene intake pipes adapted A. O. BEHEL,
to discharge Within said tube, and a car E. D. E. N. BEHEL.
