' DISPLAY-RACK.
mt-z'v'may oonoem: own that I, J can A. MORRISON, a sub ee f the King of Great Britain, resid-' .ing at Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improve'ments in Display-Racks; and I do hereby. declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art 1 to which it appertains to make and use the wires; Fig- 3 isan. enlarged, longitudinal,
cross section, showing theeonnections; and
Fig. at is a perspective view, showing a plu rality of the racks in position in acase. The main objects of the invention .are to provide asimple, efiicient, durable, fcompact,
' and economical display rack inwhich thegoods may be readily seen at all times with-- outopening-the rack or withdrawing it from its place, :The advantages ofsuch are obvi- 5 ou's and need not-here be pointed out.
' ,Referring to the drawingsin, detail, 1
.Y: indicates .a base or bottom board. plate "of glass or other transparent material 2 is secured to the-front-end of this base by l I '40 means of a metal clip or binder 3 which -..-ex tends across the front and a short distance malong eachside, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
This binder consists M a narrow rigid strip "or band'of metalfitting tightly against the i front of said glasspl ate'alrthe bottomthereof, and'provi ed with short terminal wingsor extensions at right. angles to the main. part of said strip, these wings passing across the side edges of thesaid-glass plate and so slightly --overlapping the contiguous parts ofj the-base 1. Th s chp is secured inplace by means ofscrews 4.- -passed through it, through theg'lass pane 2, and into the base 1. ;;S1 milar connecting screws are-passed sis-through the e'ndsofthe clipnanimto the oi- 'the base. It isssential, oFcBui-se,

to brace the, glass, strongly in its upright pos1t1on. Otherwise, it will be snapped off short at its lower edge, along the line of the clip. To this end, a pair'of wire rods 5 are 80 provided, one'for each side, Each of these rods has one end reduced to form a shoulder 6 and threaded, as at 7, to receive a bindin nut 8. The threaded part 7 is passe through a small bore in the pane and the nuts 8 are then screwed tightly home, clam ing the rods to thejfrarne. As soon as t e rods arethus secured, their opposite ends are made fast to the base by means of screws passed therethrough and turned into the baseall as clearly shown in Fig. 3. Prefe'rably, each brace'5, from the point of connection with the base, is bent into loop form ofU, V, or other suitable shape. This loop (the U form, only,,is shown) cpnstitutes a 76 side member for retaining the articles on the base. The end of the-loop-is provided with a notch in its side toireceive a fasteningpin 9 to secure it in'pla'c'e. Thus, it will be evident that the entire rack may be read 80- ily and quickly knocked down or set up, at will. Between the side members maybe ar-' ranged any. number of spacing wires for separating or grouping the articles. ,Such. an arrangement is clearly shown in Fig. 2. 55 These wires may each be held in place in the same way as above disclosed.
' It is obvious that other materials may be substituted, for glass, but glass or other transparent material is preferred because it permits the articles to be easily and quickly seen at all times. When the front'is made of glass and a considerable number-of the racks are arranged in rows and tiers, the assembling'gives the appearance of -'a 'large .95" 'glass front case. with all articles clearly visi- T ble and, at the same time, amply inclosed and'protected.
' It is thought that the operation and use of the invention'will be clear from thgpreceding detailed description.
Changes may be made in the construction, arrangement, and disposition of the several parts of the invention without in any way departing from the field and scope of the 1015 same, and it is meant to include all such within this application wherein only a preferred form has been disclosed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire.to secure by 110 Letters Patent is:
"In combination with the base of a display rack, a transparent front plate, a metal strip 'In witness whereof I have hereuhfio set 'fastened to said bzrse' and against the front y hand in t he .presence of two witnesses. I
of said plate'and oblique bracing rods fastened to said plate and base and prolonged 5 to form in the rear of their points'of attachment to the latter raised Wire supports for articles to be exhibited.
coples ot this p atezlt Emay be obtained to JQHN, ALEC MORRISON.
