Description
L. F. BURKE.
COMBINATION HANDLE BAR CLAMP AND BRACKET.
APPLICIATION IILBD OCT. 23, 1912.
1,059,432, Patented Apr. 22, 191B.
W|TNE5E= INVENTEIFI LOT 1E1 BURKE, 1 OF SGI-IENEGTADY, NEW YORK;
COMBINATION iI-IANDL'E-BAR CIAAMP, ANlD BRACKET.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOT F. BURKE, a citi zen of the United States, I residing at Schenectady, county of a Schenectady, and
State of New York, haveinvented :certain:
new and useful Improvements inCombination: Handle-Bar lClamps and Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to, such improvements and consistsof the novel construction, hereinafter described and claimed.
Reference may be had to the accompanying drawings, and the reference characters marked thereon, which form a part of this specification; Similar characters refer to similar parts in the severalvfigures therein.
Figure 1 of the drawings is aview in side elevation of my improved extension handle-t bar-clamp and lamp-bracket; Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal, section of the front; portion of the devices The principal object of the invention is to support a lamp in connectiojnvwith the ham dle-bar of a bicycle in such a manner that the lamp-supportirig bracket cannot become detached if the screw, whicht clamps the handlebar, should be broken: or 110st.
Other objects will appear in connection with the following description.
In carrying jOlltmyinvention, I form the lampbracket:integral with anduas a fore ward extensionofone of the handlebar-t clamp membersa a p Referring to the drawing,;1,is a handlebar post having; integral therewith a for: ward extension, 2, and 1a pair; of clampmembers, 3 and 4, adapted to receive be-i tween them intheusual manner a bicycle handle-bar indicated bydotted lines, 5, the clamp-members being: adapted to be drawn together to tightly clampgthe :inclosed handle-bar by :means of a screw-b0lt,16.
The lamp-bracket, 7 ,is formed as an in Specification of Letterslatent;
Application filed October 23, 1912.
; subsequently Patented Apr. 22, 1913.
Serial No. 727,37,4.
tegral lextension of the lower clamp member, 4, ,the integral connection, 8, therebetween being provided with a screw-threaded aperture, 9, adapted to receive the screwbolt, 6, which 1passes loosely through, an aperture, 10, in the lug, 11,, on the upper clamp member, 3. The :bracket, 7, formed, with an opening, 12,; adapted to receive a; screw-bolt or other mechanism, whereby a bicycle-lamp can: be mounted on said bracket: The lamp-bracket is thus in direct connectionnvith thepost, 1,; at all times and, cannot de detached or lost, should the screw bolt, 6, become broken or lost; also the mun-v ber of parts is reduced to a minimum as .is also theweight of the device.
The bracket, 7, may, of course, support any desired article, and its form may be adapted to the use intended.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- 1. A combination handlebar-clamp and bracket having a pair of handle-bar-clamp members and an integral QXtGIlSlOl'lI of one of said members termmatmgm a bracket and adapted to receive a screw whereby the clamp-members can be drawn together.
2; A combination (extension, handle-baraperture to receive such, screw-bolt inserted through the aperture in:said lug.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set inyliandthis 17th day of October, 1912.,
LOT F. BURKE. A Witnesses:
