To all whom 'it may concern.
Be it known that I, TERRILL M. MAsoN, acitizen of the United States, residing at Murfreesboro, in the county of Rutherford and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Flows and the Like, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to new and useful improvements in plow attachments, the same being a division of my pending application, Serial Number 659,781, filed November 11, 1911, and my object is to provide an improved gage wheel for a plow.
A further object of the invention resides in providing means for the adjustment of the gage wheel vertically with respect to the plow beam, and a still further object resides in providing means for attaching the wheel to various longitudinal points on the plow beam.
Still another object of the invention resides in providing a double clamping mem her which simultaneously clamps the plow beam and supporting means for the gage wheel.
A still further object resides in providing an improved gage wheel for supporting a riding attachment to a plow beam.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter referred to and more particularly pointed out in the specification and claim.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application, Figure 1 is a perspective view showing my improved device applied to use; Fig. 2 is a section through the plow beam and clamping device the-reon which retains the gage wheel in position; and Fig. 3 is a vertical section through the gage Wheel standard supporting the riding attachment.
In describing my invention, I shall refer to the drawing in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and which 1 indicates a plow beam of the usual or any preferred type, preferably one of rectangular design in cross section, which beam has mounted on the rear end thereof,

Adapted to be mounted on the beam 1 is a gage wheel 3 of any suitable size which is mounted on the end of an angular rod or shaft 4, and in order to adjustably mount this gage wheel on the beam, I provide a clamping device 5. This clamping device comprises a trio of plates 6, 7 and '8, which are held together by means of a is provided with a plurality of peripheral flanges 12, while the slots 11 are provided with a plurality of equally spaced notches or channels 13 adapted to receive said peripheral flanges. From this construction, it will be seen that the three plates 6, 7 and 8 may be secured together and to the beam 1 by means of the bolts 9, simultaneously retaining the rod or shaft 4 rotatably bet-ween the plates and 7. When it is desired to adjust the gage wheel 3, for obvious purposes, it will be seen that it is only necessary to separate the plates 6 and 7 to permit the peripheral flanges 12 to be engaged with other notches 13 in the plates.
Clamped to the beam 1 in the front and rear of the clamping device 5 are the ends of a pair of divergent arms 14 and 15, the outer ends of which are secured between a pair of plates 16 and 17 Beyond the meeting point of these arms 14 and 15, the plates 16 and 17 are spaced from one another, the spaced portions being parallel and provided with alining openings 18. An additional angular rod or shaft 19 similar to the rod 14 extends through the alining openings 18 in said plates 16 and 17 and has an additional gage wheel mounted on the outer end of the same. A sleeve member 20 which is snugly disposed between the spaced portions of the plates 16 and 17, has the bore thereof disposed in alinement with the alining openings 18 so that the vertical portion of the shaft 19 also extends therethrough, and in order to retain this shaft or rod 19 in any adjusted position, a set screw 21 is provided in the sleeve 20 which is adapted what I claim is In a plow, the combination with a beam; 1

The frame formed by the divergent arms 14 and 15 is adapted to support a seat and thus it will be seen that the seat attachment is supported by the last mentioned gage wheel which is rotatably carried on the frame and capable of vertical adjustment. 7
From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided a simple, inexpensive and efficient means for carrying out the objects of the invention and while I'have particularly described the elements most well adapted to perform the functions set forth, it is obvious that various changes in form, proportion and in the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the principles of the invention.
Having thus described this invention,
