Abstract
A method for predicting the risk of osteoporosis in the patients with systemic lupus erythematosus comprises the clinical examination, X-ray imaging, and assay for mutation of the nitrogen oxide synthase gene. The presence of the pathologic 786-CC homozygote is suggestive of the risk of osteoporosis.
