Abstract

Disclosed is a process for the preparation of N-(2-amino-5-brombenzohydryl)-glycine of formula based on 7-bromo-5-phenyl-1,3-dihydro-2H-1,4-benzdiazepinon-2. In order to simplify the process the mixture of 7-bromo-5-phenyl-1,3-dihydro-2H-1,4-benzdiazepinon-2 of formula and zinc powder in methanol is treated with 9-11-fold excess of chlorine hydride.
