Abstract
An invention relates to the process for the preparation of titanium lower chlorides and can be used in titanium metallurgy for the purification of titanium tetrachloride, and also in chemistry of polymer compounds. The process for the preparation of mixed crystals of titanium and aluminium trichloride comprises mixing of titanium tetrachloride with milled aluminium, addition of titanium tetrachloride to surplus and its further reduction in the presence of free halogen and/or aluminium chloride with stripping of evaporating products. Titanium tetrachloride is reduced by aluminium powder with covering ability in water, which is equal to 700079000 cm2/g, in inert gas medium.
