本發明包括清潔口腔表面、維持口腔健康及/或增進口腔健康之方法。此等方法包含以一種主要口腔保健組成物接觸口腔表面每日至少一次,及在約42天之期間內以定期口腔保健組成物接觸口腔表面至少一次。適合用於本發明之定期口腔保健組成物包含一第一研磨劑,具有艾氏(Einlehner)硬度每100,000轉數大於約5毫克損失;及一第二研磨劑,具有艾氏硬度每100,000轉數小於約5毫克損

精胺酸鹽、木蘭萃取物、金屬離子源、精胺酸碳酸氫鹽、和厚朴酚、厚朴酚、熊果酸(ursolic acid)、烏西酸(ursic acid)、莫林(morin)、沙棘之萃取物、過氧化物、酵素、山茶花萃取物、類黃酮、黃烷、鹵化二苯醚、肌胺酸及/或蜂膠。
於實施本發明方法時,主要口腔保健組成物可被應用或接觸至口腔表面每日至少一次。於一些具體例中,主要口腔保健組成物之應用每日可進行2、3、4、5、6、7次,或至多達每日15次。
可利用任何已知或此技藝中未來所發展之方法將口腔表面與主要口腔保健組成物接觸;此等方法可視主要口腔保健組成物之形式而有所不同。使主要口腔保健組成物與口腔表面接觸之例示方法包含利用一種工具(諸如刷子、牙刷、牙棒、海綿、棉拭)之塗抹、灌洗、咀嚼、鄰近置入及糖果之溶解。
用於本發明方法中之另一口腔保健組成物為一種定期口腔保健組成物。定期口腔保健組成物具有薄膜清潔比例("PCR")大於100,同時具有輻射活性牙本質磨耗("RDA")低於200。於某些具體例中,RDA小於或等於約175,而仍具有PCR超過約100。於一些具體例中,RDA小於165。實施PCR及RDA之方法被描述於例如美國專利案5,393,051及6,290,933中,兩者之內容全部併入本文作為參考。
定期口腔保健組成物包括一第一研磨劑和一第二
研磨劑;此等研磨劑被描述於例如2005年12月21日申請之美國專利申請案序號60/752,340中,其之內容全部併入本文作為參考。
於某些具體例中,定期口腔保健組成物包含具有艾氏硬度每100,000轉數大於約5毫克損失之第一研磨劑及具有艾氏硬度每100,000轉數小於約5毫克損失之第二研磨劑。具有艾氏硬度每100,000轉數大於約5毫克損失之第一顆粒當其與口腔表面接觸時具有磨光功能。具有艾氏硬度每100,000轉數小於約5毫克損失之第二顆粒具有主要清潔功能,因其為一種較軟之顆粒。於某些具體例中,第二顆粒具有硬度每100,000轉數大於約10毫克損失,且於其他具體例中,每100,000轉數大於約15毫克損失。
定期口腔保健組成物之第一研磨劑可為一種清潔研磨劑,其具有硬度小於或等於待處理之口腔表面,而第二研磨劑為一種磨光研磨劑,其具有硬度大於或等於待處理之口腔表面。
定期口腔保健組成物之第一研磨劑和第二研磨劑分別具有顆粒尺寸。於某些具體例中,第一顆粒尺寸小於第二顆粒尺寸。平均顆粒尺寸可利用一種Malvern顆粒尺寸分析儀(型號Mastersizer S,Malvern儀器公司)(Southborough,麻州,美國)予以測量。
於某些具體例中,第一研磨劑具有小於約11微米,較佳小於約10微米之平均顆粒尺寸。例如,適當研磨劑之實例具有約7微米至11微米之平均顆粒尺寸。一些研磨劑
具有小於約5微米之顆粒尺寸。於其他具體例中,第二研磨劑具有大於約8微米,較佳大於約10微米之平均顆粒尺寸。於一些具體例中,第二研磨劑具有約8微米至約14微米之平均顆粒尺寸。
任何滿足上述要求之口部或美容上可接受之研磨劑可被選擇用於定期口腔保健組成物中。適當之研磨劑包括但不限於矽石、矽酸鹽、矽酮、鋁礬土(包括燒結氧化鋁)、矽酸鋁(諸如皂土、沸石、高嶺土及雲母)、含矽土或矽藻土、浮石、碳酸鈣、墨魚骨、不可溶磷酸鹽、複合樹脂(諸如三聚氰胺樹脂、酚性樹脂及脲-甲醛樹脂)、聚碳酸酯、碳化矽、碳化硼、微晶蠟、微晶纖維素(包括膠體微晶纖維素與羧甲基纖維素之組合物,商業上可得自FMC生物聚合物之商品AVICEL®(費城,賓州,美國))及所有上述之組合物及衍生物。所謂“雲母”意指具有板狀形態及完美基底(雲母狀的)解理之含水矽酸鋁礦物群之任一種。雲母可為例如雲母板、雲母碎或雲母片,舉例如白雲母、黑雲母或金雲母型雲母。不可溶磷酸鹽中可用作研磨劑者為正磷酸鹽、聚偏磷酸鹽及焦磷酸鹽。例示性之實例為二水合正磷酸二鈣、二水合磷酸二鈣、磷酸氫鈣、焦磷酸鈣、β-焦磷酸鈣、磷酸三鈣、偏磷酸鈣、偏磷酸鉀及偏磷酸鈉。
合成矽石包括矽膠及例如藉矽酸鹽水溶液與強礦酸之中和所製備之沉澱矽石。於矽膠之製備中,通常形成矽石水凝膠,其隨後通常被洗至低鹽含量。洗過之水凝膠

另一種可被包括於定期組成物中之高清潔矽石研磨劑為以SYLODENT® XWA 300所販售,且為包含以重量計約10%至約25%水之矽石水凝膠,其中平均顆粒尺寸為約
2微米至約4微米。顆粒具有BET表面積在150至400平方公尺/克矽石之範圍。XWA 300研磨劑具有油吸收度小於90立方公分/100克矽石;及等於或大於8.5之pH(於煮沸(無CO2)之去礦物質水中之5%w/w懸浮液中)。此等研磨劑被論述於美國專利案第5,939,051號中,其之內容全部併入本文作為參考。
另一種可被包括於定期組成物中之適當的高清潔矽石包含一種矽石產物,其中顆粒為以重量計約5%至約35%之水、具有平均顆粒尺寸約7微米至約11微米、艾氏硬度12至19、油吸收值約50立方公分/100克至約65立方公分/100克。BET表面積為約100至約700平方公尺/克矽石。光澤度通常據報告為大於約95泰克達因。此種矽石產物於商業上可獲自J.M.Huber(Harve de Grace,馬里蘭,美國)之ZEODENT® 105。

於潔齒劑為清透或透明凝膠之具體例中,膠體矽石之研磨劑,諸如那些以商標名SYLOID®(如SYLOID® 72及
SYLOID® 74)或以商標名SANTOCEL® 100鹼金屬矽酸鋁複合物所販售者,為特別有用的,因為彼等研磨劑具有折射係數接近一般用於潔齒劑中之凝膠劑-液體(包括水及/或濕潤劑)系統的折射係數。
根據本發明之許多具體例,第一及第二研磨劑被組合於定期組成物中以提供清潔力、溫和性(相當低磨蝕性)及美學上可接受之定期護理組成物。於許多具體例中,第一研磨劑對第二研磨劑之用量可以第一研磨劑對第二研磨劑之比例表示,範圍為約1:1.6至約1.6:1。例如,第一研磨劑對第二研磨劑之比例為約1:1。存在於口腔組成物中之第一研磨劑及第二研磨劑之各別量以口腔組成物之重量計為約13至約21%。

於一些具體例中,定期口腔保健組成物包含具有艾氏硬度每100,000轉數大於約5毫克損失之第一研磨劑及具有艾氏硬度每100,000轉數小於約5毫克損失之第二研磨

Claims (6)
