Abstract
A novel retardation plate is disclosed. The retardation plate of the present invention comprises a first retardation layer and a second retardation layer, wherein the first retardation layer has an in-plane retardation Re of 20 nm to 150 nm, and an Nz value, defined as Nz=Rth/Re+0.5 using an in-plane retardation Re and thickness-direction retardation Rth, of -6.5 to 0.5, and the second retardation layer has Re which satisfies |Re| <30 nm, and Rth which ranges from 80 nm to 400 nm.
