Abstract

This invention provides a planar illuminating device wherein transparent light-guiding plates (6R.6G.6B) with plane side serving as an emitting surface (5) are laminated to form a transparent light-guiding body (B) with front surface working as an emitting surface (2), each color LEDs (4R.4G.4B) are respectively fitted, at a predetermined pitch, to the side surfaces of said light-guiding plates (6R.6G. 6B), and an illumination light with arbitrary color can be emit by lighting/ putting on /modulating the LEDs (4R.4G.4B) by color. Thus, a high brightness without unevenness for even a single color is obtainable, and an illuminating light with uniform color, even if a mixed color may be emitted.
