Abstract
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for treating organic wastewater by biological digestion, which wastewater being discharged from a treatment process in a sewage-disposal plant, night soil treatment plant, food factory or chemical factory. It is an object of the present invention to provide a method and apparatus for the treatment of organic wastewater that are capable of greatly reducing the amount of waste sludge discharged outside of a treatment system, while reducing a nitrogen containing organic content or a nitrogen containing inorganic content discharged outside a treatment system. The method of treating organic wastewater of the present invention is characterized by nitrifying and denitrifying organic wastewater, and then solubilizing sludge generated in the nitrifying and denitrifying process. The apparatus for treating organic wastewater of the present invention is characterized by that it includes a means of nitrifying and denitrifying organic wastewater, and a means of solubilizing sludge generated by the nitrifying and denitrifying process.
