Description

Dust burners for steam locomotives with pneumatic supply of coal dust to them are known. However, they do not properly mix air and fuel.

The proposed burner, in order to improve the mixing of air and fuel with the formation of a swirling torch in the furnace, is equipped with an expanding nozzle and a swirling impeller with fixed blades, through which coal dust flows with the air necessary for the complete combustion of the fuel.

Coal dust is supplied to the burner by air pressure, which is supplied to the pulverized coal bin from a brake or other air pump, and gases from the furnace are removed by a suction device.

FIG. 1 depicted in two projections a burner; on .fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the furnace and tender of a locomotive equipped with a pulverized coal burner according to FIG. one.

In the case / (Fig. 1), provided with a nozzle with a cover 2, there are located a swirl impeller 3, consisting mainly of eight guide vanes 4, and an expanding nozzle 5.

The swirling impeller is located directly behind the expanding nozzle, the front end of which includes a pipe 6 with a diffuser 7.

Coal dust is supplied to the burner as follows.

In the coal dust bunker 8, an air nozzle 9 is installed, the axis of which is located opposite the nozzle 10 for the coal dust receiver. In addition to the nozzle 9, there are two more air nozzles 11 and 12 in the bunker.

The air to the nozzles 9, 11 and 12 is supplied either from the main air tank of the locomotive, or from a second air-steam locomotive specially installed for this purpose.

Behind the suction inlet there is a dispenser 13, the volume of the chamber of which is adjusted by the handwheel 14 through a pair of bevel gears 15. From the dispenser, coal dust flows through a vertical pipe 16 to a horizontal venturi 17.

Air for transporting the dust is fed through the shaft 18 into the pipe 19, from which it enters the Venturi pipe and captures the coal dust, which through the flexible hose 20 enters the burner.

The stationary blades of the impeller impart a rotational movement to the mixture of coal dust and air, creating a turbulent torch in the furnace of the locomotive and providing good first mixing with the air. The gases from the furnace are removed by any known device (not shown in the drawing).

2. The method of supplying coal dust to the burner on n. 1, characterized in that, in order to create a stream of aeronautics in the feed pipe to the burner, the coal bin is placed under air pressure from a brake or other pump, and the gases from the furnace are removed by a suction device.
