Description
The usual method for extracting boric anhydride from boric rocks is that the original ore is treated with acids or alkalis, after which the solution is filtered from the sludge and crystallized. This method is applied to poor ores, for example, Inders borates containing BjO :; It appears to be insufficiently effective as a slime, having a clay consistency, it absorbs a large amount of solution and is difficult to filter and wash on the filter. As a consequence, the separation of the solution from the sludge during the processing of poor ores is carried out by settling and washing in appropriate batteries consisting of agitators, settling tanks and washers. At the same time, for a more complete extraction of boric anhydride and a more complete washing of the sludge, they are forced to take relatively large quantities of liquid and to obtain, therefore, highly diluted solutions.
Further processing of these solutions entails additional fuel consumption for their evaporation before crystallization.
The author of the present invention proposes a new method for the leaching of boron bearing rocks, devoid of these disadvantages.
The proposed method is illustrated by the following scheme. Fresh rock enters simultaneously into several parallel-running batteries consisting of agitators /, settlers 2 and washers 3. The solution from the settlers of the first battery is sent to the agitator of the second battery, in which this solution is diluted with part of the washing water of the same second battery.
The solution from the settling tanks of the second battery is sent to the agitators of the third battery, etc., and the residual wash water from the second and subsequent batteries is sent to the agitators of the first battery.
When working according to the described scheme, the principle of countercurrent is observed when washing the sludge and the solution of the first battery is successively enriched due to constant contact with the rock in subsequent systems, which allows to obtain a solution 2-3 times higher than in the usual way.
