Description
2. For the processing of copper alloy waste, mainly brass, in order to obtain more valuable components of its copper and zinc, electrolytic refining of brass in a sulphate solution was used. This work is complicated by the fact that anode material containing from 25% to 35 ° / zinc necessitates frequent regeneration of the working solution in order to remove accumulated zinc sulfate and replenish the loss of copper vitriol. The zinc sulfate released in this case does not find much use for itself, and red copper is needed to enrich the solution with copper sulfate. The proposed method is intended to be able to dispose of zinc without the use of red copper to enrich the electrolyte with copper sulphate. Electrolysis is carried out with a brass anode in a solution of hydrochloric acid; the copper, which is obtained in a finely crushed state, can, after appropriate washing, be used to make copper sulfate crystals, required for the electrolysis of brass or bronze in a sulphate solution, copper-carbon contact brushes, as a polishing material, etc. The resultant By electrolysis, a solution of zinc chloride may be used for impregnation of railway sleepers, as a solvent for oxides during tinning, in foundry and in other chemical industries. compliance with the following conditions: hydrochloric acid for solutions should not contain impurities of sulfuric acid, nitric acid and iron in any significant quantities; The applied brass anodes must not contain impurities of tin, iron and lead. brass for powdered copper and zinc chloride, characterized in that the brass anodes are subjected to electrolysis in a solution of hydrochloric acid free from sulfuric and nitrogen impurities. The authors have established the need for the subject matter of the patent. 1. An electrolytic transfer method of acids, as well as iron salts, in order to obtain a cathode deposit of powdered copper and a solution of zinc chloride. The use of brass anodes that do not contain significant impurities of tin, iron and lead. 2. In the way described in paragraph 1
