Abstract

FIELD: laser engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves application of laser beam to surface of rotating blank. Laser beam is focused by a lens and directed at the blank surface at an angle to the line which connects the blank axis with the center of the lens. The beam reflected from the blank is directed into the cutting zone by a mirror set at an angle of β to the line passing through the lens center and blanks axis; angle b is determined by the following expression: β = [2arcsin(R+L)/R•sinα)-α-90] where R - blank radius; L - distance from lens center to blank surface (focal distance); α - angle between laser beam and line connecting blank axis with lens center.
