Abstract
FIELD: chemical technology; production of sulfuric acid from iron pyrite and recovery of nonferrous and noble metals from cinders. SUBSTANCE: pyrite cinder from iron pyrite roasting is converted into pulp with water to obtain solid-liquid phase ratio of 1-2 and leached with week solutions of sulfuric acid and the whole flow of pulp is divided into two parts. Metered into the first part accounting for 24-30% of the total flow is sulfuric acid. Leaching is continued for 0.5 h and the separated part is combined with the remaining pulp flow and leaching is still continued for 0.5 h. Quantity of sulfuric acid dosed for leaching is determined from the specific consumption of 75-150 kg/t of cinder in combined flow of pulp. Solution is separated from cinder and nonferrous metals are separated from the solution, and cinder is treated with hydrochloric acid solutions of thiocarbamide to recover noble metals.
