Abstract

FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: off-gases from tandem furnace with temperature 700-1600 C are cooled with injector-pulverized phenol water containing up to 500 mg/l phenols, up to 200 mg/l cyanides, and up to 200 mg/l thiocyanates, or with mixture of phenol water with recycled water in ratio from 15: 1 to 1:10. Constituents of phenol water under these conditions are decomposed and burned in the smoke fume stream into carbon dioxide, water, etc. For more complete combustion of the phenol water constituents, additional oxygen is introduced into injector or next to it in amount 5-40 cu.m per 1 t phenol water. As a result, content of noxious components in smoke fume is reduced to their permissible values, and drainage from dust-removing scrubber contains residual amount of noxious admixtures which is 2-10 times lower than that in purified biochemical phenol water. EFFECT: increased degree of phenol water utilization, improved environmental condition, and reduced power consumption. 2 cl, 2 tbl
