Description

Existing methods for the passivation of steel and iron products have a number of drawbacks. So passivation in concentrated nitric acid is satisfactory only, at 2-3 ° below zero. In addition, when washing parts, concentrated nitric acid is diluted and dissolves the passive film. A solution of sulfuric acid with chromium loses the properties of a good iassivator relatively quickly.

The proposed method of passivation of steel and iron parts is free of these disadvantages and provides high quality electroplating coatings, reducing their porosity.

The advantages of the proposed method are achieved by using a solution containing 500-560 g / l of sodium hydroxide to passivate steel and iron parts.

The passivation process in such a solution is carried out at an anodic current density of 4-5 A / dm and a temperature of 50-60 °. The duration of the process is 20-30 seconds.

Conducted tests showed that the porosity of, for example, tin coatings obtained in acidic electrolytes after pretreatment in the proposed passivator according to this technology, decreased significantly, and corrosion resistance increased sharply.
