Abstract

SWIFTLETS FARMING FOR PRODUCTION OF EDIBLE BIRD'S NESTS An edible bird's nests production facility comprising of: a wholly man made artificial multi-storied housing structure forming the nesting habitat; a matrix of vertically positioned nesting panels or boards placed just beneath the ceiling structure providing clinging perches; and associated supporting facilities configured to breed swiftlets for their nests by means of a captive breeding program; provision of shelter, food, water, safety and security at one gathering point; pandering to satisfy the sensory perceptions, innate and instinctive preferences of swiftlets to attract and persuade them to colonize man made shelters; commercialized- scientific farming methods; sustainable harvesting of nests by means of computerized identification and tracking systems; specialized apparatus, mechanisms and techniques such as vertical-perching feeders, aerial feed dispensing system, self- dispensing cage structure, internal feeding chambers; insects breeding apparatus; provision of a safe and secure nesting habitat, a conducive micro habitat environment and macro-habitat environment emulative and simulative of natural caves conditions in which swiftlets take shelter. Figure 3U to accompany the abstract for publication.
