Abstract

Detection apparatus for infant movement detection is disclosed where the infant being is in a sleeping apparatus in which the infant is able to sleep. The detection apparatus has at least one motion sensor for detecting motion of the infant in the sleeping apparatus; at least one drive unit for providing a repetitive motion to the sleeping apparatus; an alarm system; and a communications system. A controller is also provided that is operatively connectable to the at least one motion sensor, the at least one drive unit, the alarm system and the communications system, the controller being for selectively controlling the operation of the least one drive unit, the alarm system and the communications system in response to a detection of motion by the at least one motion sensor. A corresponding method is also disclosed.
