Abstract
Apparatus for removing traces of ammonia from exhaust gases generated by a boiler burning organic fuel, comprises a means of saturating the gases with water, a means of collecting excess water and a means of directing the excess water containing traces of reducing agent to the boiler fire-place.The method for removing ammonia from exhaust gases using this apparatus is also claimed. Preferably the water is brought into intimate contact with the gases, which are cooled to below their dew point. A tank is used to collect the ammonia-containing water and a means of neutralising the reducing agent is provided.
