Abstract

Cooked chemical paper pulp is bleached by treating in (i) a delignifying P stage using a peroxide charge of 2-8 kilos/BDMT (ii) a delignifying acid stage and (iii) a bleaching P stage using at least 3 kilos/BDMT of peroxide and above the amts. used in stage (i). Bleaching apparatus for the process comprising bleaching towers (7,17 and 19) and a washing sequence contg. a displacement wash section and a consistency adjusting wash unit between the towers is also claimed.
