Abstract

A method for packing cables, ropes, wires and like elongated, easily flexible objects 1, in which a cable, etc. is spooled in a plurality of concentric winding layers around a centre axle to form a cylindrical roll 5. According to the invention, the cable, etc. 1 is spooled such that a cylinder-shaped roll 5 is obtained having a predetermined outer diameter and length and having a continuous centre hole and the cable is packed in a dimensionally stable, cylindrical packing tube 6 in connection with the said spooling. The tube 6 has an inner diameter which is equal to or somewhat less than the diameter of the roll 5 and has a dimensionally stable base 7. The tube 6 containing the roll is closed off prior to storage/delivery with a dimensionally stable lid 8, which has a centre hole 9 for subsequent axial feed- out of the cable 1 starting at the radially innermost winding layer of the roll. <IMAGE>
