Abstract

In a method of detachably connecting two pipe parts 1, 2, use is made of an arrangement which comprises a clamping band 23 which is located on the outside of the end portion of one pipe part 1 and, by means of a clamping device 7 connected to the clamping band, is tightened in the circumferential direction around the joint. The pipe parts 1, 2 are first inserted one into the other until the end of one pipe part 2 is obstructed by a stop on the other pipe part 1. The clamping band 23 is rotated as required and brought into a position in which the clamping device 7 is easily accessible for whomsoever is at a later date to separate the pipe parts 1, 2. The clamping band 23 is then tightened by means of a nut tightener which is brought into engagement with the tightening element of the clamping device 7. The clamping device 7 also has special means for rapidly relieving the clamping force. The clamping band 23 is preferably tightened around a collar 19 mounted firmly on one pipe part 1. <IMAGE>
