Abstract
Cefyll (RTM) is used as a covering material, soil binder, and sealant for the walls and bottom of the pit in which the sludge is deposited, and comprises cement 2-20 wt.%, desulphurising product 10-40 wt.%, flyg ash and/or blast furnace slag up to 100 wt.%. The desulphurising product is made by a dry process, spraying a chalk soln. into the flue gases from coal combustion. The residual product from this consists of 50-80 wt.% CaSO3.1/2H2O, 5-20 wt.% CaSO4.2H2O, 1-10 wt.% CaCl2.2H2O, 5-20 wt.% Ca(OH)2 and 5-15 wt.% CaCO3. - Cefyll (RTM) sets ultimately to a hard shell, effectively preventing the penetration of water, and is therefore self-healing if cracks occur through any effect, e.g. mechanical or frost. Sludge can be mixed with other environmentally harmful substances, using binders which are added to the mixt. such as blast furnace slag, clay, plaster, bentonite, chalk, fly ash, cement.
