The invention relates to a press comprising a vertical movable ram 9 for supporting an upper 11 or a lower 13 bending tool and for producing relative motion between the bending tools, an electromagnetic proportional valve being connected up in a hydraulic circuit functionally connected to the ram 9 for driving the said ram up and down, which electromagnetic proportional valve is intended to regulate the speed for the vertical motion of the ram 9, a speed-regulating device 99 being functionally connected to and regulating the electromagnetic proportional valve and being able to be placed freely at any suitable location and the speed for the vertical motion of the ram 9 being regulated proportionally in accordance with the regulating value from the speed-regulating device 99. <IMAGE>
