Abstract

The edge zones of the paper web are formed with a higher longitudinal tensile strength than in the remaining zones of the web, as the pulp is delivered from the stock inlet. Pref. at the end of the drying stage, the paper web edges are trimmed, and the residue is returned to the pulp feed to the papermaking machine. ADVANTAGE - The technique reduces flutter at the paper edges while the pulp is formed into the paper web.
