Abstract

A process for thermal processing of noncompostable domestic waste comprises comminution of the waste, its drying, with the aid of flue gases moving in a parallel current flow and thermal decomposition, with the aid of flue gases moving in a counter current flow which are carried out separately with maintaining a temperature gradient along the flow of flue gases at 5-10 K/m at the stage of drying and at 10-20 K/m at the stage of thermal decomposition. Solid products are removed for magnetic separation, and gases after the thermal decomposition stage are subjected to wet cleaning in at least two stages with isolation of tarry compounds at the second stage, where-after the cleaned gases are subdivided into two streams, using them as fuel, one of the streams being directed to the drying stage and the other, to the thermal decomposition stage. An apparatus for effecting the process is also described.
