Abstract

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for controlling a rotating blade, in particular a circular-saw blade in a sawing machine. To be able, in a two-blade saw, to set the blades very close to one another without limitation of the size of the gap width, it being possible at the same time for a control to be easily adjusted relative to its own saw blade and together with the latter, it is proposed according to the invention that there be provided, to control the rotating blade (1b), a control stop (2b), preferably in the form of an electromagnet (4, 4a), which is mounted on one side of the blade (1b) and allows a fluid layer to be formed between the stop (2b) and the blade (1b). The fluid layer (7) serves, on the one hand, to reduce the friction between control stop (2b) and blade (1b) and acts, on the other hand, as a yielding means for the transmission of a force with which the saw blade (1b) is pushed away from the stop or drawn towards the stop (2b). The air pressure which builds up during the formation of the air layer or of the air cushion (7) is detected by a pressure/current transducer (11) which emits a control signal substantially proportional to the air-cushion pressure, so that the magnet (4, 4a) power is controlled in a manner inversely proportional to the air-cushion pressure (7). <IMAGE>
