Abstract

In smelting at least partially reduced iron ore in a fusion gasifier, a fluidised bed is built up in which coal is reacted together with oxygen-containing gas, whereby the smelting heat is generated and a reduction gas is formed. The coal used is coked coal which is introduced directly with the sensible heat from coking into the fusion gasifier.
