A dandy-roll assembly 26 for top- draining a wet web 22 carried on a Fourdrinier wire 18, comprises a screen drum or dandy roll 28 which is rotatably mounted and adapted to be placed on top of the wet web and a suction box 70 arranged in the ascending circumferential region of the rotating drum or roll on the outer periphery of the latter. The screen drum or roll comprises a filter mesh 46 supported on an inner cylinder 34 and has at least one circumferentially extending channel formed therebetween. <IMAGE>
