Abstract
Equipment for quenching hardenable products (1) by immersion in a fluid quenching medium (2) has a quenching tank (3), a quenching shaft (4), an immersion unit (5) and a circulation unit (6). The quenching shaft has the form of a "wind tunnel" with an entry nozzle (7), a constant- section extension (8), and a horizontal separating wall (9) attached to the sidewalls of the tank (3) divides it into an upper (10) and a lower zone (11). The entry nozzle (7) is attached to the separating wall (9) so that the constant-section extension (8) protrudes into the lower tank zone (11), and the quenching medium (2) is circulated by the unit (6) from the lower zone (11) into the upper zone (10) and through the quenching shaft (4) into the lower zone. Hardenable products (1) of substantial length can be uniformly quenched by lowering into the quenching shaft (4) using unit (5), with the products (1) fitting entirely within the constant-section extension (8). <IMAGE>
