Abstract

Organosilanol compounds which have at least one sulfonato-organic substituent and which contain at least 30% by weight oxygen and no more than 15% by weight silicon with reference to the water-free acid form of the compounds, or their salts may be applied in aqueous solution to siliceous surfaces, e.g. glass, to render them durably hydrophilic.
