Abstract
1536033 Non fired agglomerates NIPPON STEEL CORP 23 Jan 1976 [14 June 1975 (2)] 2701/76 Heading C1A Non fired agglomerates are made by mixing iron ore powder and hydraulic binder to obtain mixture of CaO : SiO 2 ratio of 1À2-1À9 and 13-19% slag forming material, grinding the mixture, forming into agglomerates with an appropriate amount of water and curing without using a matrix of powdered ore to support agglomerate during curing. The iron ore is preferably Fe-rich low SiO 2 ore or ore containing SiO 2 or derivative thereof such that SiO 2 content of powder is not less than 1À5%. The agglomerates may be coated with a moistened inorganic material to prevent adhesion during coating. Suitable binders are Portland or alumina cement, or cement clinker or mixtures of cement with slag, fly ash, borazon, pozzolana or masonry cement. A wide variety of materials useful for adjusting CaO : SiO 2 ratio are specified.
