Abstract

A waste sorting robot gripper comprises a suction cup (400) engageable with the surface of a waste object (106a, 106b, 106c). The suction cup (400) has an air hole (412) for evacuating air from the suction cup (400). A suction tube (414) is coupled to the suction cup (400). The suction tube (414) comprises a longitudinal axis (A-A). A first air inlet (418) is in fluid communication with the air hole (412) at one end of the suction tube (414) and an air outlet (420) at the other end of the suction tube (414). A path of the air flow between the first air inlet (418) and the air outlet (420) is substantially along the longitudinal axis (A-A). The suction tube (414) comprises a second air inlet (422) in fluid communication with an air source, the second air inlet (422) being between the first air inlet (418) and the air outlet (420). The suction tube (414) is coupled to a blow tube (604). The second air inlet (422) of the suction tube (414) is in fluid communication with a valve (612). The valve (612) selectively causes a flow of air to the second air inlet (422) of the suction tube (414). The valve (612) is configured to selectively cause a flow of air to either the second air inlet (422) of the suction tube (414) or a flow of air to the blow tube (604).
