Abstract

1288330 Pneumatic conveyers ATLAS COPCO AB 17 Nov 1970 [24 Nov 1969] 54552/70 Heading B8A In a suction conveyer comprising a nozzle 1, a conduit 4, a separator 5 and a suction source 6, the nozzle is formed of a front portion 2 with ducts 10 secured thereto to supply primary air to the nozzle inlet 8, from a position spaced from the inlet and a rear portion 3 with a plurality of apertures 13 arranged to be selectively covered by a flexible sleeve 14 to vary the amount of secondary air supplied to the nozzle. A suction gauze 16 or the like is mounted on the nozzle to indicate the conditions in the separator and thereby allow the operator to adjust the sleeve to obtain optimum efficiency. The inlet 8 has an elongate rectangular cross-section which merges to a circular cross-section at the rear portion without substantially changing the cross-sectional area, and the plane containing the inlet is spaced from the plane containing the outlet of the ducts 10, which are also of elongate rectangular cross-section and are arranged on the longitudinal sides of the nozzle. In further embodiments the flexible sleeve is replaced by a rigid slidable sleeve (20), Fig. 6 (not shown), and the ducts (32), Fig. 7 (not shown), are arranged on all sides of the nozzle.
