Abstract
The present invention relates to the use of an environmentally friendly emulsifier in a method for manufacturing agar or agarose beads, suitable for use as chromatographic resin, wherein said emulsifier comprises sulfonate and/or sulfonic acid, but does not comprise phosphorus. The advantage of the use of said emulsifier is that it is typically biodegradable under aerobic conditions and it eliminates the risk of phosphorus leaking into the environment.
