Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a method for controlling an operational mode of a powertrain (20) of a vehicle (1) by a control device (10; 500) associated with the powertrain (20), the control device (10; 500) being configured to detect identification data contained in an RFID-chip (46) associated with a replaceable component (4) of the vehicle. The method comprises activating (slOl) an antenna (47) of the RFID-chip (46) when power is turned on in the control device (10; 500) and/or in the vehicle (1), the RFID-chip (46) thereby reflecting a signal containing the identification data to the control device (10), detecting (s102) the signal containing the identification data in the control device (10; 500) or the absence of the signal, comparing (s103) the detected identification data with a pre-determined identification data, and controlling (s104a) the powertrain (20) in case the identification data is recognized by the control device (10; 500) with a first normal capacity operational mode, or controlling (s104b) the powertrain in case the identification data is not recognized or in case no identification data is detected by the control device (10; 500) with a second reduced capacity operational mode.
