Abstract

A nozzle (36) for applying an adhesive agent onto a paper web (1) with a protecting device for protecting the nozzle from contaminations by means of compressed air, said protecting device comprises a member for defining a space (47) enclosing the nozzle, a member for supplying air into the space, and a member for discharging said air from the space in a position centrally in front of and at a distance from a front end surface (37) of the nozzle. According to the invention the air supply member is arranged to supply air when the nozzle is in a state of rest between two successive applications of adhesive agent. The invention also relates to a device and a method of applying the adhesive agent onto paper web by means of several such nozzles. The invention also relates to a method of improving the operational function of said nozzles.
