Abstract

A fibrous web (140 - 500 g/m2) is formed on a foraminous wire (5) of a forming section (2). The web is transferred from (5) to an upper press felt (7) in a press section (6) comprising a single dewatering nip (9) between an upper SymBelt (RTM; shoe press roll) (10) and a lower suction roll (11). A lower press felt (8) forms a loop around (11). The web exiting from (9) is separated from (8) and passed in an open draw to a drying section (13) located downstream of (6). Independent claims are included for the following: (1) press section for pressing water from a wet fibrous web; and (2) machine for making paperboard.
